A Fiorano was the day of the debut of Carlos Sainz behind the wheel of the Ferrari. The Spanish pilot son of art (the father Carlos senior won the world rally in 1990 is in the 1992) took over from his new teammate Charles Leclerc, took to the track yesterday, and in the morning he covered the first kilometers on the Modena circuit owned by the company Maranello thus officially starting his adventure with the prancing horse stable.
Sainz, under a pale sun, piloted the SF71H, the car that raced the 2018 world championship with Sebastian Vettel e Kimi Raikkonen. The car was decorated with the personal number of the Spaniard, the 55, with whom he has raced all his seasons in Formula 1 since 2015 al 2020, first with the Red Bull, then with the Renault and finally in the last two years with the McLaren. Carlos has been on the podium twice so far: he was third in Brazil in 2019 and second in Monza in 2020, also coming very close to victory.
In the afternoon, Sainz will leave the track free in Mick Schumacher, another son of art, as everyone knows, who won the title of Formula 2, is a pilot of the Ferrari Driver Academy and is preparing to debut in Formula 1 with the Haas, while the 26-year-old native of Madrid will be back on track tomorrow. These are very important days for the Spaniard to become familiar with the car, in whose cockpit he had only lowered himself to take the seat measurements, and with the team, since the only official tests will be held in Bahrain from 12 to 14 March, two weeks before the start of the world championship.
