The global headquarters of Beam Suntory was, so to speak, for historical reasons (that is, from the time when the company was still operating as Jim Beam) in Chicago, Illinois – that is, in fact, within “calling distance” of Kentucky.
The company has now announced that it will move to the east coast of New York, more precisely to Manhattan, on Madison Avenue, 11th Street, in the summer of 2022. An office complex with a size of 9,300 square meters has been leased there on a long-term basis – and there is a joint office with the Japanese parent company Suntory Holdings move in.
The Chicago office will not be given up, however; it will then serve as the headquarters for the American branch of the company, along with several other departments that are part of the items in The Spirits Business cannot be specified. It will also remain the company’s largest office.
Albert Baladi, the President and CEO of Beam Suntory, sees – despite all the changes caused by the pandemic such as home office and teleworking – large office complexes as an important part of the corporate culture, to which one will gradually return after the end of the pandemic. They are the breeding ground for productive collaboration between employees, through which the desired growth is possible. In addition, you want to be sufficiently and visibly present in the big cities, which you see as breeding grounds for global trends.
