The mayor of Vejano in Zingaretti: “Sant’Anna hospital reopens”

Health – Teresa Pasquali wrote to the governor of Lazio: “From the lower Tuscia it is not easy to reach Belcolle, the Ronciglione facility becomes at least a point of first intervention”

The mayor of Vejano Teresa Pasquali

Vejano – We receive and publish the letter sent by the mayor of Vejano Pasquali to the president of the Lazio region Zingaretti and the councilor for Health D’Amato – Dear President, I turn to your kind attention this short piece of mine, as mayor of Vejano, a small town on the border between the provinces of Viterbo and that of Rome, to plead the cause that has long been animating various initiatives by groups of citizens, in particular those formed in the ‘Committee of the former Sant’Anna di Ronciglione hospital’.

It is precisely with reference to the former Sant’Anna hospital in Ronciglione that I allow myself to send you these few lines, intervening in a pre-existing debate, a debate that has intensified and strengthened in recent months in which the Covid-19 pandemic is raging, and for which I was contacted as an interested party.

In fact, there are numerous appeals that require the transformation of the former hospital so that it can be restored as a first aid point.

These heartfelt appeals were reiterated more intensely – both in the press and through the channels directed to the competent regional bodies – by the former Sant’Anna di Ronciglione hospital Committee, especially in the last year, due to the serious health crisis that we are living.

In this regard, moreover, it is immediately evident that, if the previous closure of the PPI had already created discomfort in the past months, today as never before, in full and extreme health emergency, the problems are amplified and increased tenfold, so much so that it is highlighted daily the constant overcrowding of emergency rooms, specifically that of the Belcolle hospital in Viterbo.

And, unfortunately, we verify on our skin that it is a structural health deficiency, given that this hospital, which represents the main hospital in the province of Viterbo, is the fulcrum around which 60 municipalities revolve for a total of about 330 thousand inhabitants.

It is undeniable that a more structured health care network in peripheral areas would lighten the workloads of the emergency room and the entire Belcolle hospital facility, and would also ensure better accessibility to health services and hospital care for users in all countries of the world. southern part of Tuscia, since some of them necessarily pass by a winding road that crosses the Cimini Mountains, but also those who – like us – are on the axis of the Via Clodia, before entering the Cassia route, must cross inaccessible areas, especially in winter, with frequent landslides, crossing of wild boars, snowfall, icy roads, etc., making a journey potentially detrimental to the speed of intervention of the rescue vehicles.

Moreover, there is a considerable distance between these towns of lower Tuscia and Viterbo, and, considering the criticalities of the route, this area could appear as disadvantaged, and therefore in need of a restored PPI structure identifiable in the already existing former Sant’Anna hospital of Ronciglione, in a moment of extraordinary health emergency, like the present one.

I turn to you, President, as the highest territorial political authority, with a purely constructive intent, since – completely sharing the requests that arrive from our communities, albeit peripheral – I dare to make reasonable reliance on your authoritative interlocution, in response to the pressing and worried requests of the territory, and declaring myself available for any necessary further passage, with the common intention of working in the interest of citizens, and of the primary good of the right to health.

I would like to thank you in advance for the kind attention you wish to reserve for the present, and in the meantime I offer my cordial greetings.

Teresa Pasquali
Mayor of Vejano
