This Tuesday, at noon, at the initiative of Face 06 (Federation of Student Associations and Corporations of the Alpes-Maritimes), the students of the University of Côte d’Azur are organizing a symbolic action to demand the return to the lecture halls and express their dismay in the face of this continuing health crisis.
All the students will lie down in the park of the Valrose campus which houses the Faculty of Sciences, to the north of the city. A “responsible” happening since young people from Nice are called upon to respect social distancing and barrier gestures. The main demand is the return of face-to-face courses, while many campuses have opted for distance learning.
Courses by videoconference which have caused difficulties in particular for first year students whose level is the lowest, as well as for all those who do not have a quality internet connection to follow. “Since the start of the health crisis, students have been living an alarming situation,” underlines Amaury Baudoux, president of Face 06. Insecurity continues to increase, the number of students dropping out of school is also constantly increasing. grow.”
“FINANCIAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSISTANCE” REQUESTED
“We can no longer accept this situation, continues Amaury Baudoux. While colleges, high schools, supermarkets and public transport are all open, our universities are deserted. The government and universities must ensure that students can return to the faculty face-to-face to take their courses. In addition, it is necessary that financial and psychological assistance be made available as soon as possible to respond to this situation of extreme poverty ”.
The Université Côte d’Azur has just launched a paid tutoring system which should allow the recruitment of 200 students in order to give a hand to those who need it.
