The Toulouse Student Union (UET), an independent student union present at the University of Mirail, saw its Twitter account suddenly deleted several months ago. The organization has since emphasized his emergency account that the company does not respond to requests for explanation and reactivation of the account which have been sent to it on three occasions. It is an obstacle to the freedom to organize, which takes place at a time when the organizations of the student movement have an important role to play.
Indeed, since the start of the January school year, a deep anger has been expressed within a youth who is going through a crisis situation, more than ever faced with precariousness, isolation, selection and the absence of prospects given the pandemic and its catastrophic management by the government.
The UET is one of the organizations which, within the university of Mirail in particular, seek to build a collective response from the students to face this situation. The continued suspension of his account, which is moreover at the time when the campaign for the elections of the central councils of the university has just begun, is in this respect not trivial. On the contrary: it is part of a context where young people are at the heart of concerns, with a government that seeks with one hand to appease it through announcement effects and derisory measures, while repressing it. on the other, with the deployment against the mobilized youth of a legal arsenal of freedom-killing and racist security.
In solidarity with our UET comrades, Le Poing Levé Mirail demands that explanations be provided as to the reasons for deleting the account, and that it be reactivated as soon as possible!
#UETsuspendu – In the midst of a pandemic, at a time when student union activity is essential, @TwitterFrance @TwitterSupport suspend our Twitter account for no reason.
