The costumes for Indian 2 were very challenging. A costume costs around Rs 15 lakh. Costume in Shankar Sir’s picture was that big planet of mine. The freedom he gives a technician is huge. After asking us when the costume would be right, he told the rest of the production. Each dress was designed to travel to many parts of India. I was going through an area I was unfamiliar with and I had told Shankar Sir that I would definitely do it in a way that suits the artist. But he also demanded time. Then the sir said if you have such courage, do it. Asked if he could show me the miniature. When shown, he said OK. I do the costume of the old days.
