The Daily Mail reported on the 24th (local time) that Israel has begun vaccinating teens with a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).

According to reports, the Israeli Ministry of Health said on the 23rd that since vaccination began a month ago, 30% of the population has completed the first dose. At the same time, he said that the vaccinations for teenagers began the day before.

The decision to expand the vaccination target to youth came after Israel extended the third corona19 containment measures until the end of this month. The Ministry of Health announced on the 21st that it will allow immunizations to students aged 16-18 if their parents approve.

The Israeli government has been vaccinated on the 20th of last month. Starting with health workers, the target was expanded to the elderly, patients with underlying diseases and infection risk groups, and the minimum age for vaccination was gradually lowered. From the 23rd, it became possible to vaccinate people over the age of 40.

Israeli Ministry of Health said that as of the 22nd, about 2.5 million people had completed the first vaccination, of which 900,000 had completed the second vaccination.

The Daily Mail explained that 38.8 people per 100 people completed at least the first dose, which is much higher than in other countries. There are 8.9 in the UK, 5.8 in the US, and 1.4 in France.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hoped that if the vaccination speeded up last week, he would be able to overcome Corona 19 and restore daily life.

However, although the vaccination rate in Israel is high, the number of confirmed and mortality rates and the number of patients admitted to the hospital are not decreasing.

An official leading the response to Corona 19 told a local media that many of the confirmed cases were infected between the first and second doses. The Daily Mail added that it could take up to 10 days for the immunity to develop after vaccination.
