Formerly known as Saint-Joseph Hospital, Lachine Hospital was founded in 1913 by the Sisters of Providence. The original hospital was located on St-Louis Street in Lachine. It replaced in 1940 by the current building located at the corner of the 16e Avenue and rue Saint-Antoine.
The establishment was managed by the Sisters of Providence until 1974, then its management and administration were transferred to the provincial government. It was renamed the Center hospitalier de Lachine (CHL).
In 1992, a long-term care facility was built right next to the hospital. The Camille-Lefebvre pavilion has 134 beds, 20 of which are reserved for patients who need 24-hour respiratory assistance.
In 2008, the Lachine Hospital Center and the Camille-Lefebvre Pavilion joined the McGill University Health Center (MUHC) and have since been called the Lachine Hospital.
