entertainment">The comedian was a guest in the broadcast of Matthijs Continues, the new program of Van Nieuwkerk. It was about the grieving process after the death of Elferink, but also about Van Duin’s disease itself. When the presenter went into more detail about Van Duin’s eventful year, the 73-year-old Rotterdammer could not hold back his tears.
entertainment">“I think something still exists. A kind of matter or something, I can hardly describe it ”, Van Duin responded to the question whether he believes in something after death. He still has his deceased partner nearby. “I also discuss things with Martin at home. He probably won’t hear it all, but maybe he will. ”
entertainment">Despite the death of Elferink and his own health problems, the comedian says he can still put everything into perspective. “You will all die once. If it had come to an end now, I would have been at peace with that. ” In the broadcast, Van Duin thanked the people who have recently supported him by means of texts, post and emails. That has helped him a lot. “Thank you very, very, very much for the support.”
entertainment">People responded positively to the broadcast on social media. Many also supported André van Duin.
Tumor
entertainment">In mid-January, Van Duin told his story exclusively to Privé. “It started towards the end of the summer. At the risk of this becoming sewer journalism: I got up from the toilet and you sometimes look back. There I saw a plume of blood and an alarm bell started ringing for me. And then also to my doctor. It could be a polyp, or something else harmless, but he still sent me for further investigation and the scan revealed a tumor in the colon. And so I came back to the AVL, where I have so many footsteps with Martin. I still knew the way, so to speak. Now it was I myself who entered the medical mill there. But unlike him then, things looked good right away. The tumor itself turned out to be operable, but it had to become smaller before they dared to remove it. That is why I got four chemotherapy treatments that I passed wonderfully through. Few side effects, little trouble. Fingers a little tingling, but luckily that was it.
