TRIESTE The national redistribution plan of the Pfizer vaccine prevents Friuli Venezia Giulia from suffering the effects of the new 20% cut announced, once again unilaterally, by the pharmaceutical company. As announced by the vice president Riccardo Riccardi at the end of the summit between the government and the Regions which took place in the afternoon of today 23 January, the Fvg will receive the quantity of 10,530 doses announced for next week and the additional 5,850 doses planned to partially restore the halving of shipments suffered in the week that is ending ( equal to about 8 thousand doses less).
This is enough for the council to confirm the possibility of concluding the recalls for those who have undergone the first injection and to evaluate the reopening of reservations, with a decision that will probably be taken tomorrow. Commissioner Arcuri’s plan therefore avoids a new cut for the Fvg and gives certainty to complete the recalls by the first week of February.
The region will therefore not be penalized in the supplies scheduled from Monday, having already paid double, with a reduction of -54% on the doses foreseen in the week of January 18. “There are still 3,300 doses to close all the recalls – explains Riccardi – but they will arrive in the first week of February”, when Pfizer gave assurances to resume shipments at a normal rate. “We are waiting for that to happen”, comments the vice president, who still feels sufficiently calm, in front of the 31,647 first doses inoculated and the 28,357 doses that the Fvg will have in total from next week for the recalls.
And so tomorrow, continues the deputy governor, “the ways to reopen the reservations or to restart the vaccination campaign will be evaluated”. However, there is still talk of the so-called phase 1 dedicated to sanitary workers and guests of retirement homes, while phase 2 for over 80s will have to wait a little longer to begin.
