Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) The demand for the corona rescue umbrella for medium-sized companies set up by the state of Baden-Württemberg has so far been moderate. Since the start of the investment fund in December, there has only been one preliminary application and, in addition, four “specific expressions of interest”, said the CDU-led State Ministry of Economics on request.

The program is aimed at companies with a minimum of 50 and a maximum of 250 employees that are particularly affected by the corona pandemic. It is about the state buying into companies as a silent partner or granting subordinated loans in order to partially compensate for equity losses caused by the pandemic.
A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Economic Affairs described the investment fund as an “last resort” for companies from the south-west that are under pressure – we are happy when not too many companies have to make use of this last resort, but when they can be helped with other support programs. The state and the federal government have set up various aid programs.
Nevertheless, the investment fund is to be expanded again. According to the ministry, the green-black cabinet intends to extend the period during which recapitalization measures from this program can in principle be granted by three months on Tuesday until the end of September 2021.
The minimum amount for the state to participate is 800,000 euros. How much money and what conditions the country ultimately offers a company is decided by a committee of experts. The fund is filled with a total of one billion euros .
According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the prerequisite for the application is, among other things, a reported annual turnover of no more than 50 million euros or an annual balance sheet total of no more than 43 million euros in the last completed financial year before January 1, 2020, a company headquarters or a “clear” focus of activity in the south-west and a “large” Significance »of the company for the economic stability of Baden-Württemberg.
