Actress Mira Furlan, known for her role in the series “Lost”, passed away

Actress Mira Furlan, known for her portrayal of Danielle Rousseau on the hit television series Lost, has died at age 65.

“She died peacefully at her home in Los Angeles, surrounded by her family,” said J. Michael Straczynski, creator of Babylon 5, in a statement.

According to the actress’s family confirmed to the BBC, the death occurred on Wednesday due to complications with the West Nile virus, a disease transmitted by mosquitoes.

On Furlan’s Twitter account they posted a snippet of the actress’s memoir he was working on: “I look at the stars. It’s a clear night and the Milky Way seems so close. That’s where I’ll go soon.”

Mira Furlan was born in Zagreb (former Yugoslavia) but immigrated to the United States with her husband in 1991. She starred in all five seasons of Babylon 5 from 1994 to 1998 and from 2004 to 2010 she played scientist Danielle Rousseau on the series Lost.
