The Surabaya District Court (PN) has given a verdict on Budi Said’s crazy rich Surabaya lawsuit to PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) Tbk (Persero). The Surabaya District Court decided that Budi won the lawsuit, so that Antam was sentenced to compensate 1.1 tons of gold or Rp. 817 billion.
However, Antam filed an appeal against the decision. Antam emphasized that the company was not guilty of Budi’s lawsuit.
Budi’s lawsuit was motivated by a gold transaction in 2018. In February 2018, Budi visited a gold shop in Krian. At that time he heard that Antam was holding a discount on the sale of gold bullion. Budi then went to the Antam Surabaya building and met with Antam Surabaya leaders. Besides that, Budi became acquainted with a marketing named Eksi Anggraeni.
Eksi offers a gold price of IDR 530 million per kg. Gold will be received within 12 working days after the money is transferred to PT Antam. Budi believes because it is someone who claims to be an employee Antam and transfer to Antam’s account.
Later, Eksi contacted Budi that he could help take care of the gold purchase by asking for a commission of IDR 10 million / kg. Budi said yes and transferred Rp 10.6 billion to his account Antam.
Budi then made another transaction of 73 transfers. The total price paid is Rp. 3.9 trillion in the hope of getting 7 tons of gold. Unfortunately, Budi only received 5,935 kg of gold, and the remaining 1,136 kg of gold was not shipped. Finally, Budi polished the case at the end of 2018. The case rolled to court. Budi’s fraudsters have been convicted by the court.
