New regulation of the Barcelona taxi until August

After the umpteenth meeting between the taxi associations of the Barcelona metropolitan area with the Metropolitan Taxi Institute, today it seems that they have reached a possible agreement.

The intentions of the Metropolitan Taxi Institute (IMET) were that as of this Monday, 70% of the taxi fleet would go to work on the streets of Barcelona.

Something to which all the associations flatly refused, asking to regulate the vehicles that could work downwards.

According to taxi drivers, an average of 50 euros is currently being billed in a working day, something that makes it unfeasible for the ratio of taxis to rise.

As of Monday, and according to the statement that Todo Taxi has had access to, the current regulation of 60% of the working fleet will continue. This will be during the month of July and will be reviewed after this date.

Expand demand through the following actions

In addition to the calendar that they have specified, the following points are also pending:

  • Make it possible for rate 3 to be offered from the “calculate your route” app.
  • Study the rate system to adapt it to the new reality.
  • Expand the territorial coverage of stops through the micro stops project.
  • Urge the collaboration of the municipalities of the AMB to encourage the use of the taxi.
  • Call a meeting with representatives of the Generalitat, the AMB, the Local Police, Mossos d’Esquadra and representatives of the taxi sector to address the need to enforce current legislation on VTCs.
