BerlinAccording to the will of the left, MPs should pay into the statutory pension insurance scheme from the coming legislative period. The previous old age allowance for parliamentarians would thus be abolished in the long term and the retirement provisions of politicians would decrease by around 73 percent. The left sees this as a first symbolic step towards insurance for all workers. The project is correct. Only in this way can old-age provision be socially fair for everyone.
It cannot be explained why a member of parliament receives an average pension of around 3200 euros per month, while the average pensioner has to make ends meet with less than half. Employment insurance would eliminate this injustice and ensure that parliamentarians would be affected for the first time by their decisions about our pension provision. It could even lead to an increase in average pensions in the end.
