Finally, a Chilean team will be present in the 2021 edition of the Basketball Champions League Americas, the most important basketball tournament in South America. After the cancellation of Deportes Valdivia, as a result of the sanitary quarantines imposed by MINSAL, the Universidad de Concepción Sports Club agreed to be part of the contest and will play against Quimsa (ARG) and Sao Paulo (BRA).
In a statement, the Penquista study house thanked FEBACHILE for the invitation to be part of the event. “It is a tremendous pride for the institution and the club to be able to participate in this important tournament where the best teams on the continent will be present. We appreciate the invitation and we will go out in each game to leave the name of the country and the UdeC at the top”Said Sergio Montoya, manager of the university’s basketball branch.
The University of Concepción will be part of group B of the contest and will have to play its matches within a health bubble in Buenos Aires. The meetings will take place between January 31 and February 2.
