Chairman Wouter Kolff of the South Holland South Security Region called on Thursday afternoon in a press conference to keep an eye out for people who are lonely. Due to the extra measures that have been announced, only one person per day is allowed to visit, and there will be a curfew. Kolff calls this measure ‘drastic’.

We are all coronamoe, but we must not give up, “said Kolff, who is the mayor of Dordrecht in daily life.” We are in a new phase of the corona approach. We cannot afford to lower our heads We are now seeing the effects in the corona approach. The effects are taking hold quite slowly, but the decrease in infections is very important. I myself also yearn for the moment when we get rid of all this misery.
Kolff further called for keeping an eye out for lonely people. Due to the new measures, only one person is allowed to visit, and there will be a curfew.
Exotic mutations
A horse remedy, that’s how Kolff typifies the curfew. “At the same time, it is so incredibly important to reduce the virus. The exotic mutations are now also making an appearance in our country. The percentage of the British variant of the virus is increasing. Last week that was 3 percent of all infections, now it is around 10 percent. Within a few weeks that will be half of the infected cases. “
Looking for exceptions makes no sense, according to Kolff. “Then the measure is a lot less effective. As a result, it will only take longer. The virus has to be put in a corner and we have to put our shoulders together. ”
Vaccination
Cees Vermeer, director of Public Health GGD, tells during the press conference that the number of covid patients in the hospital is falling, but according to him the hospital staff remains heavily overloaded. “The normal corona virus is extinguished and is taken over by the British variant.”
Vaccination is in full swing. The vaccinations for acute care workers have been completed and care and nursing homes are being vaccinated. The Albert Schweitzer hospital will start vaccinating general practitioners this weekend. On Monday, the vaccination of residents of nursing homes will start.
Elderly people previously vaccinated
Furthermore, the elderly are also vaccinated more quickly than previously stated. From next week, one part of the over-90s will be called by their GP to make an appointment for a vaccination.
In the course of next week, people over 85 will also receive a letter about making an appointment. This can be done at the injection site in the hall of DeetosSnel in Dordrecht, or by the general practitioner.
The time between the two vaccinations is also adjusted. This used to be three weeks, but it has now been moved to six weeks. This makes it possible to vaccinate more quickly.
