Long-time Bundesliga defender Sokratis has been free for a new club since his contract termination with Arsenal. According to current information, two clubs from the top German division are also interested in the veteran.
Interested parties from Spain, Greece and Germany
After Sokratis and Arsenal ended their collaboration by mutual agreement six months before the contract expires, the Greek is available for a free transfer. In addition to allegedly ongoing negotiations with Betis Sevilla from Spain, Olympiacos Piraeus from Greece has the 32-year-old on the screen. On top of that, the Greek sports journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos reports on Twitter about two Bundesliga clubs, which are also involved in advertising for Sokratis.
The editor-in-chief of “sportime.gr” did not provide any more precise information about which clubs are from Germany. At the moment it can only be speculated whether, for example, a return to one of his ex-clubs is an option for Sokratis.

Seven years in the Bundesliga
Sokratis’ career in Germany began in 2011 when he moved to Werder Bremen. Two years later, the North Germans sold the central defender to Borussia Dortmund for almost ten million euros. In 2018, they said goodbye to Germany with the aim of the Premier League, when Arsenal FC transferred 16 million euros to BVB.
In the current season, Sokratis had not been considered for the first time for the Premier League team of the Gunners. For this reason, too, termination of the contract was not entirely unexpected.
