The Parisians have started a real charm offensive in the past few weeks: First sporting director Leonardo and later also coach Mauricio Pochettino praised the magic flea in the highest tones and sent signals for a possible commitment. These events bring back unpleasant memories for the Catalans: PSG chose the same approach before the surprise transfer Neymar, who moved from Barça to Paris in 2017. At Messi, the Ligue 1 club could have the same plan.
As is well known, the 33-year-old’s contract expires in the summer. He has not yet spoken to any other club. First he wants to talk to the new Barça leadership and then make a decision. To what extent he can be influenced by words of praise from other club officials, for example from Paris, is unclear.
