Darmstadt (ots) – Officials from the 2nd police station arrested a 38-year-old man late on Wednesday evening (January 20th) in Hoffmannstrasse. The 38-year-old is currently suspected of having tampered with several parked cars while looking for valuables. Witnesses had alerted the police shortly before 11 p.m. when they saw the man shaking several vehicle doors and stealing sunglasses from a Renault Clio. The alerted patrol officers arrested the suspect in the vicinity of the crime scene. During his search, they also found the stolen sunglasses. Because the man was caught in the act a few days beforehand in a shoplifting and he currently has no permanent address, he was taken to the guard. There he had to spend the night in a cell. The criminal police in Darmstadt (K21 / 22) has now taken over the further investigations and is checking whether the suspect will be brought before a judge today.
