Samsung is keen to compete with Apple’s M1 chip with its next Exynos

Exynos chips may well become the cornerstone of the PC-to-ARM transition. Samsung is said to be developing an iteration internally for Windows 10 / 10X PCs. Samsung seems to be following in the footsteps of Apple Silicon and its macs with ultra-performing M1 chips.

Let’s not go four ways: Is Samsung becoming a bit of a homebody? After firing innovation in the smartphone industry, the South Korean manufacturer sometimes gives the impression of waiting for Apple to take risks to take it in turn. In any case, this seems to emerge from a new report taken up by WCCFTech.

This confirms that Samsung is developing an Exynos chip internally for PCs. Very few details about the project are known at this stage. But these chips could include an AMD GPU. By banking on ARM, Samsung is initiating the transition of the PC industry – provided that this is followed by other manufacturers. However, there is a chance that this will happen.

Exynos chips could soon find their way into PCs

Indeed, the incredible performance of the latest Apple Macs and their M1 chip – the most entry-level that Apple will ever launch – is a hit. I have to say that Apple shows that the switch to ARM allows both autonomy and performance to explode. A demonstration that no player in the industry had so far managed to make.

Not even Qualcomm, which has been investing in this segment for several years with chips like the Snapdragon 8cx. This example should, in passing, serve as awarning to Samsung. In order to be successful, you must not be content with having a balanced chip packed with features. It is also necessary that the software part is optimized so that the strengths of ARM can be exploited.
