Nominations for the 2021 Critics Choice Television Awards were announced. The ceremony, conducted by the Critics Choice Association, confirmed her submission for March 7. Thus, the best of television of the last year will be awarded.
The event seeks to give recognition to what is considered the best of current television, both productions of famous channels as well as streaming services on the rise. Precisely, the race is very focused on streaming platforms, with Netflix receiving 26 nominations for various series, followed by the multimedia company HBO with 22 nominations.
Critics Choice Television Awards Nominees
In this edition of the Critics Choice Television Awards, The Crown and Ozark are the great ones celebrated, with 6 categories each. Both Netflix series are running for the Best Drama Series award, along with other full-length competitors like Better Call Saul and This Is Us, in addition to more recent productions like The Mandalorian.
From the fourth season of Peter Morgan’s historical drama, both Olivia Colman and breakout star Emma Corrin received nominations for Best Actress in a Drama Series. Similarly, Josh O’Connor is among those selected for Best Actor in a Drama Series, with Tobias Menzies and Gillian Anderson remaining in the race for Best Supporting Actors.
Also, Ozark garners nominations for Jason Bateman and Laura Linney as Best Actors in their respective categories, alongside Tom Pelphrey, Julia Garner and Janet McTeer in the race for Best Supporting Actors.
Other recognized series include the acclaimed sci-fi bet Lovecraft Country, the political drama with Cate Blanchett, Mrs. America, the 2020 Emmys big winner Schitt’s Creek, and the FX bet, What We Do in the Shadows. The four productions add up to 5 categories. Other nominees include Ramy, I May Destroy You, The Plot Against America, Normal People, and The Flight Attendant.
The announcement comes a week after the first Critics Choice Super Awards were held, honoring the best in fiction genres for film and television. On that occasion, the series The Boys and the films Soul and Palm Springs were the most awarded.
