Several users have reported strange interference, with inadvertent wiretapping of other people’s conversations
Yesterday, January 19th, on reddit and on social network dozens of users have reported strange interference in calls: this is mostly Iliad customers, which they report having overheard other people’s conversations.
In all customer reports, the dynamic is more or less the same: the Iliad user tries to call a number but, instead of being put in contact with the person sought, listens to a third person talking, probably engaged in a another conversation.
Judging from the reports, it seems that the disservice somehow also involves TIM customers (and related virtual operators, such as Kena Mobile, CoopVoce …), but there is no evidence that the latter have actively experienced the problem: it seems that customers TIM are mainly “victims” of involuntary wiretapping.
Both on reddit and on Facebook, users who report the problem have had slightly different experiences: there are those who were able to talk to the “intercepted” person and those who could only listen, those who called their mother received a report of a non-existent number (for then listen to conversations of strangers) and who instead listened to interference in calls instead of the normal ring.
According to what was reported by the parties directly concerned, it seems that Iliad is already aware of the problem: in any case, we have contacted the operator to ask for more clarifications and we are awaiting an answer.
