Eugenia García Cuesta, a student at the Julián Orbón Municipal Professional Conservatory of Avilés, has obtained a scholarship from the Royal Academy of Music in London, one of the most prestigious musical institutions in the world, to perform there from the next academic year, and during the following four years, his higher studies in music.
The young Avilesina, who will turn 18 in April, is a sixth-year student of professional viola education, with Professor Rubén Menéndez Larfeuil. For the award of the scholarship, the court of the British institution valued his mastery in the execution of the online tests that were presented to him and which consisted of the recording of a video in which he interpreted the first movement of the M. Reger Suite and the first movement of FA Hoffmeister’s Concerto in D major, accompanied on piano by the conservatory teacher Narine Karapetyan. She also had to prepare a personal presentation in English and, weeks later, took an analysis and singing test.
From the Royal Academy they informed her that she had been selected to be awarded a scholarship that will allow her to pursue her higher studies in London. It is a 4-year career in a conservatory in which exchanges are carried out with other institutions and in which you will meet teachers and students from multiple countries who will give you the necessary resources with which to fulfill your artistic goals.
The historic Royal Academy of Music in London, which will be in its second century of existence in 2022, is one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the world of music. Talents such as Elton John have passed through its classrooms, in which students from more than 60 countries are currently trained; Simon Rattle, conductor for 16 years of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and today musical director of the London Symphony; the soprano Felicity Lott, or the composer Harrison Birtwistle.
