The American dream beaten in Guatemala… Thousands of immigrants back to Honduras

Thousands of Central American immigrants who were trapped by Guatemalan soldiers and police on their way to the United States eventually returned to their home countries.

According to the AFP news agency on the 19th, Guatemalan authorities said 3,500 of Central American immigrants to the United States who entered their country had been sent back to Honduras.

The Associated Press reported that buses carrying immigrants and military and police vehicles arrived sporadically in the morning of that morning in El Florida, Guatemala, bordering Honduras.

After being taken over by the Honduras, they got on the bus to their respective homes.

These immigrants gathered in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on the 15th and departed together as the first large-scale’caravan’ this year.

Immigrants in caravans dreaming of a new life away from violence and poverty usually travel thousands of kilometers to the United States on foot or in trucks.
