The City Council of Torremolinos has launched the cycle with activities Torremolinos Street Art, what do you expect bring street art closer to young people of the municipality through activities such as visits to murals or dance, as announced yesterday by the Councilor for Culture, David Tejeiro.
“This is a proposal with which we want to bring what was this countercultural movement and what it is now to the youth of the municipality with workshops in which they will be able to experiment, learn and create,” explained the mayor, who explained that this first cycle pretends publicize the urban hip hop cultural movement and make street art understood “as a value to be protected and promoted, always encouraging respect for the property where this artistic expression is made.”
In addition, he highlighted the character of an open-air museum that Torremolinos is acquiring, where there is already a good number of graffiti, an artistic discipline that is integrated into the whole of the culture that the municipality treasures, “Being therefore an element to promote and protect.”
A guided visit to these large murals of street art is the first of the workshops that will take place within Torremolinos Street Art, and that will take place on January 30, completing the tour with street exhibitions of another of the components of culture Hip Hop, the ‘break dance’. The other two activities, scheduled for February 13 and March 13, will focus on the making graffiti, customizing t-shirts and urban dance.
