Bar-le-Duc. The next blood donation will take place at the village hall

The first blood drive of the year in Bar-le-Duc will take place on Friday January 25, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. And beware of donors, it will take place again in the town hall’s village hall. There is no longer any question of organizing it at the Dumas room, as it had been for several months, since it will become from this Monday one of the anti-Covid vaccination centers.

“It will hamper us for respecting social distancing at the time of the snack. There should not be more than two donors per table, it will undoubtedly be necessary to install them in the hall as well, it is possible, ”emphasizes Sylvie Malfait-Benni, president of the local association of blood donors. “Even if it will require that we have one more volunteer to not leave anyone unattended. There was no question anyway of letting someone leave without having gone through the snack or having stayed there for a quarter of an hour to twenty minutes.

If last year, we had registered 240 donors during the January blood drive, that is to say fifty more than expected – “we did not know why” -, the EFS (French Blood Establishment) only relies on 170 this time: 70 in the morning, 100 in the afternoon. It is more or less the figures recorded the following times.

Nine collections in 2021

However, blood needs remain important. “Compared to the population that could donate, we have relatively few new donors,” notes Sylvie Malfait-Benni. “If we had more to come regularly, the needs would be met. “

Eight collections are already scheduled in Bar-le-Duc in 2021, a 9e remaining to be it either during the summer holidays or at the beginning of the September. The EFS would like a rate of one per month, which the number of inhabitants in the Barisian basin would justify. “But the adjustment variable remains the volunteers, I cannot impose it on my team, for that it must be fleshed out”. However, Sylvie Malfait-Benni does not say no definitively and the recruitment of friendlyists may suggest the establishment of a rotation.
