Los Angeles Chargers apparently sign Brandon Staley as head coach

According to several media reports, the Los Angeles Chargers have hired Brandon Staley as their new head coach. He comes from the Los Angeles Rams, where he worked as a defensive coordinator.

Staley succeeds Anthony Lynn, who had been released and looked after the Chargers for four years.

Staley only served one season as the Rams’ defensive coordinator. Before that, he was Outside Linebackers Coach of the Chicago Bears in 2017 and in the same position for the Denver Broncos in 2018 and 2019, each under Defensive Coordinator and then Head Coach Vic Fangio.

Staley didn’t start his NFL career until 2017, before that he worked as a coaching assistant and later defensive coordinator for Division III College John Carroll University and FCS James Madison School.

Aside from his defensive background, he is said to have presented the Chargers with a detailed plan for quarterback Justin Herbert, like Albert Breer von, in the interview MMQB reported.
