ASUS developed ROG Phone 3 just like ROG Phone II in the embedded power supply sector. Both have 6,000 mAh capacity batteries. Now, the latest leak reveals that ASUS will once again be using a 6,000 mAh battery for the ROG Phone 4.
Only a few flagship smartphones, aka flagship, have a battery capacity of 5,000 mAh. So, 6,000 mAh is more than enough for the ROG Phone 4. Given the fixed battery capacity, it’s likely that ASUS has decided to use faster charging as a way to differentiate from its predecessor.
As revealed by the Digital Chat Station that the ASUS ROG Phone 4 will support 60W or 65W fast (wired) charging. This allows users to recharge the 6,000 mAh dual-cell battery faster than its predecessor, the ROG Phone 3 which only supports 30W fast charging via cable.
When compared to other competing gaming smartphones that will also be launched this year such as the Black Shark 4 and Red Magic 6, ROG Phone 4’s 60W / 65W fast charging is much slower. The reason is, the Black Shark 4 and Red Magic 6 will support 120W fast charging via cable.
Even so, this gaming smartphone made by ASUS is still superior in terms of capacity. Reportedly, Black Shark 4 and Red Magic 6 will only be equipped with a 4,500 mAh battery. ROG Phone 4 must also support a revers charger, Quick Charger 4 and Power Delivery. This smartphone is expected to arrive this quarter.
Just like the other flagship smartphones, the ROG Phone 4 will most likely be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset under the hood and support for 5G. The AMOLED screen is also expected to have a refresh of 144Hz or higher and should be running with the Android 11 operating system.
