The pilot of Manlleu Joan Cros, current champion of Spain of SX1, has returned this morning to the competition in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross in the 450cc category at the NGR Stadium in Houston, where he was on the verge of playing the grand final of the 22 best due to a fault in the clutch of his Kawasaki three laps from the end of the Last Chance repechage round where the last four passes are distributed.
The Manlleu rider, who is part of the International SX Race Team for the third consecutive season, was ninth in practice. In the first race he was 17th in race 1. In the qualifying round, in group B, he was 13th in Q1 and 9th in Q2 -34th in the combined– with which he still had his options via play-offs. Joan led that Last Chance from the start and suffered a breakdown three laps from the end, he was able to complete this round of play-offs but in fifth position, 7 tenths from the final.
Justin barcia he took the victory after 28 laps ahead of Ken Roczen (at 1 ”015) and Marvin Musquin (at 20” 076). The second round of the championship will be played again in Houston on January 20.
