4.02 Luna Rossa made a very good impression. The Italian boat was consistently faster than the British one. The answer that James Spithill and Francesco Bruni expected, demonstrating a competitive boat in all conditions.

3.58 In this phase the storm seems to have left the competition field and the situation seems to have stabilized.

3.55 The jury announced that the regatta will restart at 4.20 (15.20 in New Zealand) as the storm should leave the course within 30 minutes.

3.53 The spectacular passage to the Luna Rossa buoy.

3.50 The weather conditions have worsened a lot in the last few minutes with the wind that seems to have become more intense, with a storm that makes the situation even more complex.

3.47 We leave at 4.05.

3.46 Despite the cancellation of the race, Luna Rossa has shown great solidity and incredible potential even in strong wind conditions. This was the answer the Italian crew expected.

3.43 It is necessary to understand what the jury will decide now. This remains a regatta to be recovered. We’ll see what the decisions are.

3.40 Basically the wind turned so much that the boats lost speed when approaching the second stern mark. Luna Rossa, hoping to find the right thrust, reached the corner of the race course. The Italian boat was forced to pass at very low speed at the buoy as well as the British, who in the meantime managed to take the lead. Slowly Luna Rossa managed to restart while Ineos UK decided to leave the competition field to find the wind again, aware of the 50 meters penalty. Given the situation, the jury decided to cancel the regatta.

3.38 Regatta canceled !!!!!! Incredible what happened in the last few minutes.

3.36 Ineos UK decides to leave the race course and take the penalty but to re-launch their pace!

3.34 Something very special has happened! The boats are practically going into the corner of the competition field. With the wind it practically stopped !!!!

3.32 Ineos UK does not give up and thanks to a jibe at the right time, Ben Ainslie halves his gap, taking him to less than 300 meters from the Italian boat.

3.30 Luna Rossa extends again. The Italian boat passes to the second windward mark with a 44 ”advantage !!!

3.28 Up to now perfect regatta of Luna Rossa which was very competitive even in these wind conditions!

3.26 Different choices on the second upwind leg with the Italian crew who chose the left side extending their advantage to over 400 meters.

3.24 Luna Rossa arrives at the second gate with a 17 ”advantage over Ineos UK.

3.22 On the competition field there are 16-17 knots.

3.17 Both boats cross the competition area horizontally. The gap between Luna Rossa and Ineos UK remains unchanged in the order of 90 meters.

3.00 Today’s racing field is wider than the previous ones and it will be important to understand how the boats will adapt.

2.57 According to the forecasts today on the Hauraki gulf there should be a strong wind, as well as the possibility of heavy rains. This scenario, should it take shape, obviously, would complicate the work not only of the crews but also of the judges.

Goodnight friends of OA Sport and welcome to LIVE LIVE on the third day of competition of the Prada Cup 2021, ongoing in Auckland Bay (New Zealand). Today in the Hauraki Gulf the last two races of the second Round Robin of the Challenger Series will be staged, valid for qualifying for the 2021 America’s Cup Finals against the Defender Emirates Team New Zealand.

Red Moon managed to bring home the first success yesterday against American Magic. A regatta dominated by the Italian crew who thus returned in the wake of Team Ineos UK, currently with full points with three consecutive successes. The Challenger driven by James Spithill e Francesco Bruni has proven to be extremely comfortable in light wind conditions. Today, however, the weather forecasts do not bode well with a strong storm that should upset the plans of the boats and that could push the jury to postpone the start. The wind should be around 20 knots, right at the limit of regularity set at 21.

It will be an important test for Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli which will have to prove its solidity even in strong wind conditions. Today’s program foresees a double engagement for the Italian boat first against the British of Ineos UK and to follow against American Magic. The crew led by Benedict Ainslie in recent days he has been at the center of the controversy for a hole on the sail and on the irregular arrangement of the outhaul, which is why he received a warning. The competition regulations, however, speak clearly at the second warning the disqualification is triggered.

It starts tonight at 3.15 with the challenge between Luna Rossa and Ineos UK, while following the Italian crew will challenge American Magic. OA Sport offers you the LIVE LIVE textual integral night of the event with real-time updates to not miss a moment of Luna Rossa’s journey in the 36th America’s Cup of sailing: have fun!
