2 weeks extension of social distancing… Some operations such as gym are allowed

500 new domestic corona 19 confirmed days

With 500 new cases of Corona 19 in Korea for five consecutive days, the government has decided to extend the social distancing step currently being applied by another two weeks.

Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun said at the Corona 19 Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting held this morning that he decided to extend the distance step by two more weeks and continue to enforce business restrictions after 9 p.m. However, some multi-use facilities, such as gyms, academies, and singing practice centers, which have been previously ordered to prohibit grouping, will resume operation under condition

Prime Minister Jeong said, “I was deeply concerned between the theory that the reins of quarantine should be tightened and the daily routine should be accelerated, the accumulated social fatigue and the reality that many self-employed people cannot ignore the pain.” In accordance with this government’s decision, measures such as restrictions on business operations after 9pm and banning meetings with less than 5 people nationwide remain the same.

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters will announce specific details related to this decision at 11 am today.

Today, the number of new corona 19 confirmed in Korea was 580, an increase of 67 from the previous day. The number of new confirmed cases was 500 vs. 5, 600 vs. 1, and 400 vs. 1 in the last week. By infection route, local outbreaks were 547 and foreign inflows were 33. By region, there were 341 confirmed cases in the metropolitan area, including 148 in Seoul, followed by 59 in Busan, 23 in Daegu, and 22 in Gangwon.

The number of deaths increased by 19, the cumulative death toll was 1,236, and the fatality rate was 1.72%.
