United States of America

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said a new variant of the corona virus, which was first detected in Britain, has now been reported in 10 US states.

The CDC also warned that the new variant of Covid-19 could become the dominant variant circulating in the US in March 2021.

The variant, known as B.1.1.7, is believed to be twice as infectious as the version of the virus currently circulating in the US.

However, there is no evidence that these variants can cause more severe disease.

Its rapid spread will place an increased burden on health resources when infections spike.
