USA: Vice President Pence offers help to successor Kamala Harris – News

Pence’s call comes just days after Joe Biden took office on Wednesday and was the first contact between candidates entering and leaving the White House.

A person familiar with the conversation between Pence and Harris described it as “a good phone call”, in which the outgoing vice president congratulated his successor and offered help, showing himself to be willing to cooperate in the transition of power.

Donald Trump only on Friday acknowledged Biden’s victory, without ever congratulating him, and goes on to say that he was the victim of “electoral fraud”, having announced that he will not be present at the investiture ceremony.

Mike Pence, who stood out from Trump’s criticisms of the electoral process, will be present at the inauguration of Biden, alongside former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, in an event that will not be attended by the public, for health and safety reasons.
