On January 13, 2021, Sylvain Sylvain died as a result of cancer. The musician, who co-founded the New York Dolls and worked as a songwriter and guitarist in the legendary punk band, was 69 years old.
On his Facebook site a statement was published on the artist’s death. It reads: “As most of you know, Sylvain has been fighting cancer for the past two and a half years. And although he fought bravely, he died yesterday of this disease. We mourn having lost him, but we know that he has finally found peace and is no longer in pain. In 2019, Sylvain had revealed Sylvain that he had cancer. A GoFundMe fundraising campaign was used to raise money so the artist could pay for his treatment bills. A total of almost 80,000 US dollars (the equivalent of 66,000 euros) was raised.
