The mayor of Anglet, Claude Olive, had already indicated: the city is voluntary, on its own scale, to get involved in the organization of vaccination against Covid-19 and its various variants.
In this context, various places were submitted to the Prefecture of Pyrénées-Atlantiques to become, where appropriate, vaccination centers. It is the space of the ocean that caught the attention of the prefectural authority.
Lieu large, easy to access and surrounded by car parks making parking easy at this time of year, it has many advantages. In this context where physical gatherings are, for the most part, prohibited, the Ocean Space is, moreover, entirely available. The Maison pour tous remains a screening center.
Waiting for validation
We must still wait for the validation of this possibility by the State and the Regional Health Agency, before entering into the organization of this vaccination center.
“The is not up to us to define the terms, clarifies Claude Olive. We simply indicated that in case of need, the city would respond. We are prepared to respond to requests that may be addressed to us and, where appropriate, to put the necessary means.”
In particular, the city’s on-demand transport service could be mobilized to drive people there to be vaccinated.
Strictly material aid
We should know at the end of the week all the choices made for the department, with regard to the establishment of vaccination centers. We will then know the modalities: who can be vaccinated, and how.
This will not happen only by making an appointment prior, on platforms such as Doctolib, and only for categories of people defined as priority.
“The town hall will not be a meeting place, underlines Claude Olive. Our contribution is material, to help the implementation of the vaccination policy that will define the government.”
