The CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal invites the population to avoid these two emergency rooms, even if the services are maintained there.
“The large number of people in the emergency room means that we have more and more difficulty in putting in place measures of social distancing and adequate prevention and control of infections”, explains Dr. Martine Leblanc, director of Professional services at the CIUSSS-EMTL, by press release.
The CIUSSS is noticing an increase in the number of patients infected with COVID-19 in its emergency rooms.
“We are seeing a significant number of people with COVID-19 who have been presenting to our emergency rooms for several weeks due to the current community contagion in east Montreal,” says Dr. Leblanc.
The outbreaks listed in some units are also a problem.
“The numbers of outbreaks on hospitalization units are also increasing, which limits the possibility of hospitalization of patients and generates even greater traffic in our two emergency rooms”, adds the doctor.
