– The government announced that it would consider a plan to directly request reimbursement rights to the BTJ Community Center in Sangju, Gyeongbuk, which is accused of violating the quarantine guidelines and interfering with epidemiological investigations.
At a briefing on the 13th, Son Young-rae, head of the Central Accident Recovery Headquarters, said at a briefing on whether or not the government claims for reimbursement rights to the BTJ Center for Reimbursement.
“Because the local government has the primary authority, we will continue to consider whether to exercise the right to indemnify the costs of medical expenses, examination of other contacts, and self-isolation,” said Son.
BTJ World Center is a facility operated by the Protestant missions organization Intercorp. There were 576 confirmed cases nationwide, including those who visited the area and those who were further infected.
The Health Insurance Corporation announced that it plans to claim the right to indemnify the 2.6 billion won for medical expenses borne by the Corporation out of a total of 3 billion won for the estimated medical expenses of 576 confirmed patients related to the BTJ Nation Center. This amount is estimated as of the 12th and increases as the number of confirmed cases increases.
Mr. Son explained, “The Health Insurance Corporation usually provides 70 to 80% of medical expenses, and we will request reimbursement for that part.”
