Beijing, Jan 13 (EFE) .- The National Health Commission of China reported today that the Asian country diagnosed 115 new positives of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus this Tuesday, of which 107 were local infections.
The latter were mostly detected in the northeastern province of Hebei (90), the scene of an outbreak that has led authorities to seal off three cities, including the provincial capital, where a second round of nucleic acid analysis is underway. its 11 million inhabitants.
The other local infections were detected in Heilongjiang province (northeast, 16) and in Shanxi province (north).
As for the other 8 cases, diagnosed in travelers from abroad, they occurred in Shanghai (east, 5) and in the provinces of Canton (south, 2) and Fujian (southeast, 1).
Since July, China has not exceeded the bar of one hundred new infections in a single day.
In addition, the health authorities also reported today the detection of 38 asymptomatic infections (3 of them, from abroad), although Beijing does not include them as confirmed cases unless they manifest symptoms.
The total of this type of infections under observation is 556, of which 256 are “imported”.
Likewise, the National Health Commission detailed that, until last local midnight (16:00 GMT on Tuesday), 28 patients were discharged after successfully overcoming covid-19.
Thus, the total number of active infected in mainland China stood at 784, of which 21 are serious.
The institution did not announce new deaths from covid-19, so the figure continued to be 4,634 (data unchanged since mid-May) among the 87,706 infected officially diagnosed in China since the start of the pandemic.
To date, 929,694 close contacts with infected people have been followed up, of which 30,114 are still under observation.
Meanwhile, in the semi-autonomous city of Hong Kong – immersed in a fourth wave of infections for months – the total number of infected stands at 9,343 since the start of the pandemic, of which 160 perished. EFE
