On Tuesday, the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League featured the Red Bull Salzburg vs. Vienna Capitals duel. The Viennese celebrated a 4-1 away win and ended two series. On the one hand, the team of head coach Dave Cameron stopped their own negative run (note: two defeats in a row). The other series ended the series of four victories in a row for the Mozartstadters.
One after the other: The EC Red Bull Salzburg dominated the action in the opening third for long stretches, but mostly failed because of caps goalie Bernhard Starkbaum. Contrary to the course of the game, Vienna’s Taylor Vause then met outnumbered after a solo to lead the guests (12th). But Salzburg – the best power play in the league – struck back outnumbered and Florian Baltram put it 1: 1. The Capitals got better and better in the middle section and took the lead again through Jerome Leduc (33rd). The Red Bulls did not answer this time. Derek Joslin was unlucky in the 52nd minute when he hit the crossbar with his shot. A few minutes later, Sascha Bauer hit a counterattack for the preliminary decision. Salzburg tried with six outfield players just under three minutes before the end, but then had to accept Julian Großlercher’s Empty Net goal to make the final score 4-1. The Viennese, who improved to third place in the table, also won the third duel of the season with Salzburg.
