Muscat: Tayyassin bin Haitham bin Tariq, the son of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, has been announced as the Crown Prince of Oman. Sultan Haitham bin Tariq on Monday issued a royal decree appointing a crown prince to Oman. The Royal Order No. 6/2021 issued on Monday also sets out the conditions for facilitating the transfer of power in the country.
Oman did not have a coronation system during the reign of Sultan Qaboos. Sultan Haitham bin Tariq was appointed ruler on the basis of a letter written by Qaboos.
The new basic law will also have a special mechanism for smooth transfer of power. In addition, it will be part of the law to closely monitor and evaluate the progress of the work of government agencies.
