Corona detected for the first time in two gorillas | Abroad

California Governor Gavin Newsom shared the remarkable infections during an update on the corona epidemic. The two monkeys were tested after becoming ill. A third gorilla from the San Diego Zoo is also said to have symptoms of the virus, including a cough.

How the monkeys contracted the virus is not known. “We are currently investigating the source of the infection and the strain,” Newsom said. According to him, the open question is whether the virus has been transmitted by humans.

Due to the corona measures, the zoo has been closed to the public since the beginning of December. Recently, an employee of the zoo tested positive, but he had no symptoms and would invariably have worn a mouth mask in the presence of the gorillas.

Newsom said the gorillas’ condition is a particular concern of his four small children, given “our love for animals.”
