This morning the first care workers of nursing and care homes in the city were vaccinated. Nurse Dickey Heerkens was the first to receive an injection, another 299 will follow today.

Just after eight o’clock this morning the first vaccination was taken. ‘A lot of people in healthcare will be very happy to receive the vaccine,’ says Heerkens. ‘They are now less likely to get sick and can just do their work in a calm way. This is the beginning of the end of this virus I think. ‘
Nursing staff have been able to register for a vaccination since last week. After Heerkens, there was immediately a queue with care personnel. They are happy that the time has finally come, says a nurse. ‘I really want to be able to do my job again. I really have to keep visiting the customers, there is no other way. And I haven’t had a corona yet and I would like to keep it that way, ‘says one of them.
