After nearly two years of work, the Saint-Jean hospital site is drawing to a close

A new dimension for the hospital

In a few weeks, the Saint-Jean hospital, in Briare, will enter a new dimension with the provision of 6,000 additional square meters of buildings. This will allow the establishment to meet the needs of its current residents and, at the same time, of the territory, in terms of accommodation adapted to an aging population.

Twelve places will also be reserved for people with disabilities. The Republic of the Center was able to discover the new premises, exclusively, with the president of the Bapterosses association, Dominique de Courcel.

Friday, a few days before the passage of the safety commission, the workers present on the construction site of the new building of the Saint-Jean hospital were at work for the finishing of a decade-long project for Bapterosses , which carries this action.

” A use
over the next month ”

“The idea for this extension dates back to the beginning of the 2010s. It was about allowing a real separation between health and medico-social activities. Over the years, we have carried out diagnoses and developed adapted plans, all with the idea of being as close as possible to the needs of our residents and future residents. Concretely, the work began in March 2019 and should be completed in the coming days for use during the next month, after the agreement of the safety committee and then the compliance visits of the Regional Health Agency (ARS ) and the Department ”, explains Dominique de Courcel, president of the association’s board of directors.

“We are therefore going to go from 65 to 84 beds, including twelve for aging disabled people, a population from which we have everything to learn in terms of support,” adds Dominique de Courcel.

With his teams, he has thought of everything for the well-being of his residents and employees: individual rooms of 22 square meters, with shower and toilets; warm living spaces; a relay kitchen in each wing; the mechanization of everything that can be done to facilitate the task of the agents.

“We also wanted to build a nursing consultation center, for the residents and inhabitants of the territory, but also an X-ray center to ensure quality care. As a continuation, upon installation in this building, we will carry out the complete repair of the third floor of the current premises then the demolition of a troublesome wing next March. I hope to be able to inaugurate a complete end of the work on June 24, ”concludes Dominique de Courcel.
