Kollam: Famous actress and dubbing artist Pala Thankam (84) has passed away. It ended at around 7.35pm on Sunday night. Pathanapuram Gandhi Bhavan is an inmate. Gandhi Bhavan has been undergoing treatment in the palliative care unit for a long time. He has acted in about three hundred films. The body is kept in the Gandhi Bhavan mortuary.
Radhamani was born on February 26, 1941, the daughter of Kunjukuttan and Lakshmikutty, at Sarathchandra Bhavan, Thiruvathukal, Vellore, Kottayam. Pala Thankam, who has been focusing on music since the age of 10, dropped out of seventh grade.
Under the tutelage of John Bhagwatar, Rajagopalan Bhagwatar and Vijayan Bhagwatar, he studied music from the age of ten. Then LPR in Changanassery. He studied music under Varma. Pala Thankam’s first song was sung by Aluva Ajanta Studio owner Alleppey Vincent in the film ‘Kedavilakku’. He made his debut in playback singing at the age of fifteen. The song was recorded in Chennai.
The entry into the theater was through solo plays in churches and temples in Pala. In NN Pillai’s play ‘Fundamental Rights’, N.N. She entered the professional theater industry as the daughter of Pillai and Kalyanikutty. He acted in Vishwakerala Kalasamithi, Changanassery Geetha, Ponkunnam Varkey’s Kerala Theaters and later in KPAC.
Her first foray into film acting was through the film ‘Kedavilakku’. She later starred in ‘Rebecca’ and dubbed the same film. He then acted in ‘Unopened Door’. Pala Thankam has acted in more than 3000 films, including foreign language films. Pala Thankam last acted in Balan K Nair’s Yagagni. Thankam’s husband is police officer Sreedharan Thampi. He died 25 years ago. She is the daughter of the late Ambili dubbing artist.
