Today, Sunday morning at 3:40 a.m., the fire brigade went to a reported machine fire in an industrial company in the Ohle district. Oil had caught fire in a collecting pan under a hardening furnace, causing parts of the machine to heat up considerably. Attempts by the factory employees to bring the fire under control with their own resources failed. After the fire brigade arrived, the hall was evacuated due to the heavy smoke development and a group wearing respiratory protection proceeded with a foam attack. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished and the machine was cooled down by controlled shutdown. After the machine had cooled down enough, the site was handed over to the operator and the fire brigade moved into its locations. In addition to the forces of the fire and rescue station, the fire engine 3 of the voluntary fire brigade, consisting of the fire fighting groups Eiringhausen, Ohle and Selscheid, was in action. The period of use was approx. 1 1/2 hours. The fire brigade cannot provide any information on the cause of the fire or the amount of damage.
