Craig Stevens, a British man who was diagnosed with stage 3 skin cancer last month, fears death as his surgery ultimately doesn’t go ahead as planned this month.
Worse yet, the surgeon was unable to re-date the man, barely 43, reports Birmingham Live.
“I have been told that the cancer will spread if nothing is done and that I do not have the operation. It could cost me my life, ”says Craig Stevens.
“I am in shock, dismayed and worried to death about my future prospects. I was refused by the hospital without any hope or date of treatment and operation, ”he adds.
Mr. Stevens said that the Queen Elizabeth Hospital told him that they are normally used to seeing time slots become available on a daily basis, but that these have been scarce lately.
The forties therefore chose to file a formal complaint. This is not aimed at doctors. Rather, he denounces the inability of the hospital center to manage the situation.
“This is not a complaint against the doctors and surgeons that I have seen, it is about the inability to handle this situation, which I consider gross negligence. Basically, they put my life on the line, ”says Stevens.
The latter is aware of the fact that he is not the only one in this situation and that the country is grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic.
“COVID is not the only disease that takes the lives of people,” he says.
Craig Stevens has a stage 3 cutaneous music lover that affects his lymph nodes, arm and neck.
A spokesperson reached by Birmingham Live said the hospital “was trying to keep urgent treatments and cancer surgeries as long as possible.”
“However, some surgical procedures and activities may be postponed due to the daily high increase in very sick patients who are under our care,” it was added.
