No compulsory attendance, little face-to-face teaching
In principle, nationwide, there is no compulsory attendance at schools in the country until the end of January. The state government advises that children should be looked after at home if possible. Students should be given assignments for home learning. Starting next week, the final classes of general education schools and vocational schools will be able to return to face-to-face classes so that they can prepare for their exams. Younger children in grades 1 to 6 can be looked after in the schools. From grade 7, there are distance courses. Exams should no longer be written until the winter holidays.
Stricter rules on the lake district
The Mecklenburg Lake District has issued stricter regulations because of an incidence of over 200: In principle, distance teaching applies to all. Only the graduating classes are allowed to go to the schools there, for the children in grades 1 to 6, emergency care is only provided in “extreme cases”.
Mouth and nose covering must be worn in class, in the school building and on the premises. Student internships or school trips are generally not permitted, and physical education lessons have also been canceled. However, there are separate rules for sports high schools that must be agreed with the health department. All of these regulations now apply until the end of January.
