NICHELINO. For days, those who lived near that slice of Nichelino, between via XXV Aprile and via Prunotto, continued to see strange movements around that gate. A coming and going of people with bags and sports bags, which made us suspicious. And on Friday afternoon it became clear what was going on: a gym continued to let its members in to train, using a secondary entrance. In spite of all the anti Covid provisions and the ordinances that provide for the stop to certain activities: including those within private sports clubs. The carabinieri discovered everything, thanks to the tightening desired in recent days after the many (and too many) acts of vandalism that occurred in the city.
More patrols in the city means greater checks and checks on everything that does not convince. When they passed on the street and saw those movements, the military waited a few minutes before taking action. They observed those young people clearly dressed in fitness clothes and when it was clear that the steps were not sporadic but continuous, then the blitz was triggered. As soon as they opened the gate they found themselves facing a direct passage towards the back of the gym, next to some warehouses. There were about fifteen “abusive” athletes inside at that time, including the manager. At the sight of the men of the weapon they tried to hide to avoid the inevitable consequences. There are those who have locked themselves up in the warehouses, to find a way to go unnoticed. All useless: those present have been identified and they will be fined 400 euros each, for not observing the anti Covid limitations. The manager also risks a criminal complaint for non-compliance with the provisions of the authority, namely article 650 of the code. Once everyone was identified and asked to leave the building, the carabinieri immediately closed the gym.
The problem of sports centers has dragged on since the beginning of the pandemic. Structures that in order to continue to survive need a certain number of entrances and the stop due to Covid has already brought several realities to their knees. But there are no alternatives and trying to be smart doesn’t pay. Rather. A bit like some bars that try to get around the rules for extra cash. Also on Friday in Nichelino, the carabinieri closed one of them because there was a crowd outside at a time that was not allowed. Many young people quietly enjoyed an aperitif.
