Discord has banned a server called “The Donald”, a community that supports Trump, related to the banned subreddit r/The_Donald and TheDonald.win.The ban was issued two days after Trump’s supporters stormed into the U.S. Capitol under the encouragement of the president’s posting, but Discord said there is currently no evidence that the server was used to organize riots.

“We have a zero tolerance policy for any form of hatred and violence on the platform, or using Discord to support or organize behaviors surrounding violent extremism,” Discord said in a statement. “Although there is no evidence that a server named The Donald was used to organize the riots on January 6, Discord today decided to ban the entire server because it was blatantly linked to a server used to incite violence, plan an armed rebellion in the United States, and spread it in 2020. Online forums related to harmful misinformation related to US election fraud.”
Reddit banned r/The_Donald, a sub-forum with many Trump supporters, in June. Previously, its policy expanded its scope to more specifically prohibit hate speech. The Discord server of “The Donald” is one of the destinations for members to “shift positions” after the former was banned.
Reddit also banned the unofficial supporter of Trump’s reddit r/donaldtrump this Friday, because “in view of the repeated violations of policies regarding violence in the U.S. Capitol in recent days.”
